Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I enjoy being a beta for people. I really like to help people and when I help on a story I feel like I'm making the story better for everyone who reads it.
I have experience helping foreign writers improve the English in their stories. I've also been a general beta for lots of people while I was in school. I read everything from school papers to original fiction, fan fiction, and real person fiction.
I give advice on all parts of the story (as far as to my ability) and bold (or italicize or change color of) all my changes to make sure they're seen. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I am a self proclaimed grammar nazi. I feel compelled to fix people's grammar and spelling even in my day to day life. I can sense whether or not the story has a general flow and where the flow might be interrupted. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
And while I can know where the flow is broken, I'm often at a loss to fix it. Transitions are definitely my weakness as a writer. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I believe my beta strengths will lie in Books, Movies, and TV Shows. And possibly Cartoons. That is simply due to my basic knowledge in these areas. I don't have a lot of experience in the other categories and wouldn't feel at my full use. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I won't say "no" to a story just because it's not in a category I know well, but I won't be able to offer help with characters or plausibility of such a scenario in that particular fandom. I don't enjoy excessive violence, so that would be a deterrent as well. If I don't think I'm the right beta for you, I'll let you know. |
