Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Why would I be a good beta –reader? For me it’s really somewhat easy to answer. I love to read and I love as well. For me, writing is an amazing way to get away from the pains of the world, to explore possibilities that one may not be given the chance to. I’ve been writing for a good fifteen years now. Picked up a pencil in middle school and haven’t stopped yet. My stories have changed from the fluffy young ones to the more angst filled ones. I vary from one to the other, depending mostly on my moods than anything else. I excelled in school when it came to grammar and spelling. I on occasion proof (beta) for my good friends, helping them out when their either stuck or need someone to make sure that it makes sense. I love detail, the more the better. When it comes to detail, it goes a long way with me, from what I write to how I live even. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My strengths are different depending on what the story is. I am excellent when it comes to grammar and spelling, but then most people who write are. I’ve worked with many who had the idea, and needed help learning how to put their ideas down in words. I’m a quick study. I can usually understand the story well enough to know what the author is thinking. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
My weaknesses aren’t very many. I have problems at times with finding a muse to work with. With work, my failing social life, and my personal health issues, I tend to lose my own muse about as often as I misplace my house keys. But when it comes to other stories, I usually am able to read and figure them out. The best way to get my muse back is to help someone else. Another main weakness of mine, is that I either type faster than I think at times, or think faster than I type, where a sentence should make sense, there maybe words missing or something else. I normally catch it, and fix my errors right away. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Hmm…what I prefer. Anything really. I’m not that picky. I’ve written short fluffy stories to hard angst to people dying. I’m not one to stick to one type of genre. In truth I love them all mostly. Horror isn’t my favorite, but I love to read it more than I do watch it. I’m one for the odd pairings, but if you got the marked ones down, I like those too. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
What don’t I like to write or read? Not very much. I used to say that I didn’t like Angst or where a main character dies. But after losing a member of my family, writing and reading it, does help with the pain some times. As for what I won’t read, I’m not a real big slash reader. |
