Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader

As a beta, I automatically focus on spelling and mechanics. On request, I will beta for things like non-canon and OOCness. I have a tendency to take beginning writers under my wing. I'll be glad to help you with your spelling, mechanics, and techniques, but you have to be willing in turn to accept (or at least listen to) constructive criticism.
I have no problem accepting stories with Original Characters. However - If you do not want a major problem with your OC pointed out, do not come to me. When I was younger, I had a bunch of Mary Sues. I have now laid them to rest...Or at the least knocked them out while I give them a complete do-over. Therefore I AM qualified to recognize them. XD As a writer, I've written plenty of fics; the few posted are a mere dent in my collection. However, the majority of my writings will never see the light of day, as during my freshman year I turned out story after story before I significantly progressed as a writer.

My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Grammar, punctuation, and most spelling are my strongest points. Also, if needed, I can do or help out with researching if you need something to come out believable (like medieval medical procedures, or the way a certain instrument works). |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Passive sentences give me a little bit of trouble, but I can usually re-work them properly. I also can't come up with plot directions and ideas for other people but maybe once in a great while. I can't help you write a detailed fight scene (that includes duel scenes in Yu-Gi-Oh). |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I like almost anything dealing with my favorite pairings, listed in my author bio. YuYu Hakusho, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Kingdom Hearts are my top three preferred categories (including a soft spot for Organization XIII). I adore canon-ish or AU fics. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I'm highly unlikely to read detailed lemons that push or go past FFN's guidelines. It's not that I particularly dislike them; I just oftentimes find myself automatically skimming over them and not paying attention.
As mentioned above I like canon and AU - I do NOT like something inaccurate (unless of course that's what I'm supposed to be betaing for). I don't care if you think Zexion would be teh awesomeness if he fought Sora alongside Demyx in that final battle or something like that; if it's not AU and he shouldn't be there, he'd better have a damn good reason.
