Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Be patient with me. I'm not available for the majority of the year, but editing stories and giving suggestions is something I love to do. There's almost nothing I won't beta- yaoi, AU, crackfic, you name it- probably the only things I won't beta are lemons, but just because I'm really not the best person to ask on that front. I'll be hard on you when it comes to grammar and what makes sense for the story. I WILL critique. I'm a huge fan of drama and action in stories, so the more ridiculously elaborate your plot, the better. :D |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I have almost impeccable grammar (I get near-perfect scores on standardized tests) and I'm a good writer- I know what sounds like a good piece of writing, and I have a feel for language. I can look at someone else's work and know what needs to be done to improve, and I really do love editing, weird as it may sound. Because of my obsession with grammar, I'll be a nag, but in a good way. I hope. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I am not good at coming up with ideas on my own. I can work with a roughly-established idea and edit for content and writing style, but my idea skills are lacking. I also have a tendency to ramble and my sentences can get away from me if I'm not careful... I do speak Chinese, but I'm not as proficient as other beta readers would be. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
There isn't really anything I won't do. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Mary-Sue-fics. Sorry, but I'll pretty much tell you to get rid of them. If you want to put yourself in a fandom as a comedy or a parody, I'll do it, but if you have an all-powerful, all-beautiful OC as the main character, don't even bother.
Also MPreg. That's just... no. |
