Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
My main area of beta reading is to check for typos, grammatical errors and general credibility, plausibility and consistency of ideas, concepts and timelines/frames. I have no qualms against lengthy chapters, gorey/descriptive scenes, suicide, incest, touchy subjects(such as rape, abuse, drugs or serious illnesses) or violence. I can tolerate almost any pairing, though I tend to prefer shonen-ai/yaoi. I won't change any part of the story itself, just notify the author of whatever I have an opinion of to let them change it however they see fit.
I'm currently not writing much of my own so I'm also open to help if anyone wishes for a co-writer, or something to that effect. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Checking for typos, grammatical errors and general credibility, plausibility and consistency of ideas, concepts and timelines/frames. I'm pretty good at colorful description and my best formats are one-shots and two-shots, and maybe drabbles. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Multi-chapter stories have never been my strong point, there's a fairly high risk that I miss plotholes and such, especially if it's an intricate storyline. Intricately woven and complex relationship dramas is also something I have trouble grasping, I tend to forget who's connected to who and how. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Angsty tearjerkers have always been a favorite of mine, followed by romance in most forms. Shonen-ai/yaoi is almost always welcome, but I can easily do het and shoju-ai/yuri as well. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I don't do crack-fics, I just can't stand them. Other than that there isn't much of anything I'd refuse based on my own preferences. |
