Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Well, I'm 17. I've had experience in fandoms such as Fruits Basket (anime), some RPF, & especially Supernatural, my current fandom. I often beta fics that I like in my free time before printing them out for leisure reading. When I beta, I try to search for parts of the reading that may be bland, so to speak, or lacking in detail & I try to add to those parts to make them more illustrative & interesting for readers, whether it be something as simple as scenery description or the portrayal of someone's emotions. The only expectations I have are that the reader be familiar enough with a fandom's characters & keep them in character, even if a bit of aid is needed in doing so. I'd prefer not be beta to someone who's clueless as to how the characters behave. However, if anyone needs some clarity in what I expect, you can email me & I can look over things for you. :D
There's really nothing I won't read. Slash, gen, het, gore, violence, squick, I'm good with it all. I do prefer to read Sam-centric fics, but I'm really not all that picky. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Like I said, touching up & filling in details are probably my strongest point, & especially spelling & vocabulary, though that skill isn't as necessary since we now have spell checkers & synonyms in Word Microsoft & such. I have an eye for proper grammar & punctuation, though that skill maybe a little duller. |

I sometimes miss punctuation errors, though I don't believe my errors have ever been too extensive (I hope). |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I can beta virtually anything, though angst & drama fics are my crack. XD Humor & roamnce is also my cup of tea. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Parody fics. While I enjoy humor & crack!fics very much, parody isn't really my strong point, as the humor is often cruder, unamusing, & sometimes goes right over my head. Especially when it involves weird crossovers or Lucifer wearing a tutu. |
