Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Ola! My name is Totschafe. I've been on this site for about three and a half years. I'm a bit of a grammar dictator, as well as spelling. Although I make mistakes like everyone else in the world, I try as hard as possible to correct them. While I won't be super strict, I do expect a lot out of anyone who asks me to be a beta. If your document has atrocious spelling and grammar, I might not accept it (though I'm not trying to be rude). Anyways, I'll try to make your document as good as I can make it.
The style I usually do things in is pretty average by writing standards. I do look for passive/aggressive sentences that are used out of context. I also look for wording. If your words can be switched around or a better word can be put in its place, I'll try to fix it. =D |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
As far as excelling, I do pretty well with grammar of all types. I also have a wide range of vocabulary so documents don't sound half as mundane. If you're aiming for something sounding exciting, I can do it. I may not be a full dictionary, but that's not too much of a problem. Also, I'm a frequent user of the thesaurus, if that means anything to you. |

I have a problem with run-on sentences and even my wording may fall a little short. Sometimes I miss semi-important things and sometimes I miss things that aren't half as important. Unfortunately, I find myself scanning when I read, even when I don't mean to. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I prefer anime stories (like Shonen-Jump worthy) that range from things like Naruto to FullMetal Alchemist. I also like to work in some movie categories. I'm not too big on really mushy romance (like I used to be) but I can handle lighter romance. I've been really into action lately. Though against my will, I seem to have a crazy-good penchant for deathfics. I like handling dramatic situations, like if you want someone to cry (you sadist!), I'll be able to do that. I'm also getting much better at character development. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
NO. MUSHY. ROMANCE. I hate it when there is a romance that is impossible. My only exceptions to this are anime and manga along the lines of Vampire Knight. Things like that, I can certainly handle. And most certainly, NOOO MARY SUEEES! I know what it's like to write a Mary-Sue, but don't post it PLEASE. I've posted my own before and I regret it sorely. I don't accept any form of Mary-Sue unless it's REALLY well written. |
