Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
My name is antiassasinguy, and have been on this site for more than 3 years. I read harshly, critically and scrutinizingly. I will not sugarcoat my words with the gutter troll that has plagued the review sections of your stories with invalid praise and unrated support. If you wish to acquire my services, the only thing you require, my fellow writer, is the extreme condition of being gutted like a fish more often than not. I am not a cruel critique, I will only push you in a direction that need be. However, I WILL require you to supply me with spoilers of sorts so I may know where the story is leading up to. Usually, I am available between Fridays and Sundays (EST) if you would like a "while you wait" read-through. I expect also, no lip, but an open ear. I will listen to what you have to say, but allow me to finish before you open your mouth. If you want to see the kind of quality I will help you achieve, read the works of Hawk. THAT's where we will strive to be. I will beta read fandoms that I state below in my "Preferred" section. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Romance-centered situations and out-of-character interaction, as well as action sequences and dramatic monologues. My MAJOR strength, however, is recognizing the good flow of stories, sequences of wording and of course, recognizing a good characterization (OOC and IC) and a staple for common sense when reading. I will criticize "Godmodes", "Unexplainables" and "Unfathomables", and will hold very few bars back in the undertaking of my task. |

I tend to miss out the finer details of stories (The odd question mark, period or even the odd comma).I may also take around 3 to 5 days to fully read, understand and practice your ways/style at first before getting into it as enthusiastically as the next person. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Harem comedies, with the slight dose of drama. I prefer the fandom areas of Naruto, Harry Potter, Fate/Stay Night, Claymore, Bleach, Tenjou Tenge, Eyeshield 21 and the Final Fantasies and Kingdom Heartses of Square-Enix. A good action/adventure is fine too, but I would prefer THIS particular one to be, I say, around 2000 to 3000 words at the very least in chapter length (Prologues are not counted). |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Yaoi and canon pairings of almost any fandom, with the notable exception of the Fate/Stay Night section. Also, I tend to to ignore action/adventure stories that involve harems; they don't bore me, it's just that it's unrealistic to have a horde of women after you AND you kick butt like there's no tomorrow, but otherwise, bring it on. HarryGinny of the Harry Potter Fandom is also a no-no, unless it is a non-serious romance. |
