Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I'm a bit of a grammar Nazi, haha. I'm your go-to man for mechanical issues. I focus so much on those that I have a harder time with other things, but I'm also pretty good at picking up on things like OOC-ness and plot issues, so. Yeah. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I focus primarily on grammar, spelling, and punctuation. If it's for a fandom I'm well-familiar with, I'm also pretty good at gauging characterization and such. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I can get a bit too anal over mechanics. Sometimes other aspects, like plot quality and characterization, get crowded out in my critiques, since I tend to niggle obsessively over that missing commas and semicolons and such. Also, it can take me a while to get to requests sometimes, so I'm probably not the best person to go to if promptness is your number-one concern. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Stories with short chapters. I usually have a lot to say about even small paragraphs, so stories with shorter chapters save me a lot of time and stress. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Stories with long chapters. They take me a long time to get through due to my obsessive need to niggle over every grammatical error in each paragraph. That, coupled with my short attention span, tends to result in my abandonment of the project before I finish.
I'm not too keen on tasteless gratuitousness in the sex or violence department, unless they're really well-written. |
