Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
My life as a Beta? It's not a very long one. I started writing fiction for different anime when I was 13, but only published my stories at the beginning of 2005. Like every lovable newbie, I thought I was hot sh't. Looking back now I realize that not only were my stories terrible, but my grammar and spelling made me want to rip my fingers off with a pair of sissors. However, with the help of a very, very determined English teacher and a happy-go-lucky side kick (who actually did kick my sides), I started to fly straight.
Through highschool, it pretty much continued on that way; I may have had a few hiccups every now and again with my writing (lack of reading good-quality material), and felt the urge to kill that came with writer's block, but I've made it through to University where I am currently studying Animation, Co-Majoring in Character Design and Story Concepts/Design.
I'm more that happy to take anything on, so just give us a buzz and we'll see what we can do for you.
(Pimping myself here, but what the hell - I also do Character/scene comissions for people who I think are talented and deserving of a reward for putting their work out there for everyone to see.) |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I love going through chapters six or seven times to pick up on small details, descriptions and grammar. I think those make a story interesting. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Guys, my only weakness is that I do work/learn a hell of a lot, and being tired is a highly possible scenario. I swear though, I will only miss one, maybe two errors at most. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Preferred? Anime, books, games, cartoons and movies, with some TV shows on the side. But I'm honestly open to anything...hell, you may even convert me into a fangirl. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Not my cup of tea? Please, please please! Keep original characters to a minimum. As a Beta I have obligations to read and correct errors, but if I comment that you do, in fact, have a M.S story, try not to be offended - I won't chew your head off. |
