Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I read fanfiction the same way I read submissions to the magazine on which I work. I am a harsh but fair judge of series. I look for three things, is it an interesting, is it something I haven't seen done before, and if the series isn't a form of AU do the characters remain true to their original forms. In AU's even if the characters are different they should at least have some resemblance to their original selves. I expect the stories to be original or at least be slightly unique. I also like them to be long, short fanfiction may be okay every now and then, but a long fiction shows the writers abilities more. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My strengths are many, having written published stories in the science fiction, spiritual, fantasy, adventure, comedy, and romance genres. Plus I have written many fanfiction series, most of which were posted on a seperate website than Fanfiction.net so I have experience of Harem, Mecha, and many Anime genre writting skills as well. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
As for my weaknessess, when it comes to noir, crime, horror, or similar types of fiction I have no experience reading or writing them. As for comedy, I am only good at the more out there FLCL kind of comedy. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I prefer reading well written crossovers that seamlessly combine two series or more. I also enjoy AU's that do something unique. To date my favorite fanfiction I have ever read was Sailor Ranko, even though I must say it did have its flaws. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I will not betaread any sick story that includes stuff that you would see in movies like Saw or other similar movies. I am not a fan of self insertions and despite the fact many believe Rando Halcya of Gameworld to be self insertion, he is not. |
