Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I expect anyone who wishes me to beta read for them to have at least a minimal understanding of the English language. I also expect that anyone wishing for me to beta read for them not write in short hand. (plz, thx, w/ever, etc.)
My style is to usually go through a story quickly to get the gist of what is going on before i start to edit. this gives me the perspective of what I should expect from the writing style and also an overview on things I should look out for.
I've betaread for years, and so I can usually go through a story or chapter quickly and efficiently. However, this does not mean that I wont miss things. But, as always, I try to catch as much as I can.
I also like to use constructive criticisms to help struggling writers, or even writers who think they are good. I believe it just helps anyone along to know how other people feel about their writing style and their story, especially if they don't get many reviews. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
At the moment I am majoring in my English class, and have very good grammer and spelling abilities. I am best at catching grammer problems and sentence structure as well as punctuation. Again, I am also quite good at constructive criticism. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I find that I do not do well with stories that are written by two or more people. The styles just vary to much and it can become confusing.
I also find that I do not do well with un-paragraphed pieces as well as certain transition types, such as lengthy dream sequences and/or lengthy flashbacks. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Romance is something I prefer to betaread, although I will do almost anything else as well. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
No deep mystery. |
