Beta Description
Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I'm pretty easy to obtain. If you've got a story, I'll edit it. I'm probably better if you're just starting out. Or, well, not just starting out, but if you feel your writing is below mine (if you've read it), then I'd be good to come to. I'm not very good at critiquing work that is better than mine, I feel it's unfair. All I ask is that you're willing to learn and that you're not expecting your chapter back in a hour or something. I need to print out the writing and mark it up. That's my style.
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm generally good at spelling and grammar typed things. If you have issues with those, you can definitely come to me. Why? I'm the girl who texts in proper English. Capitalization, punctuation, and all. I correct spoken grammar. I know the difference between 'lie' and 'lay'; for example, you can't "go and lay down." It's just not possible.

If you're not a native English speaker, I'm your girl! I've done quite a bit of work in the past for writer's who don't have English as a first language.

Aside from those two things, I do feel pretty certain with my characterizations. I feel that I know the characters fairly well. My Rikkai is my most tangible (because I'm a Rikkaithor), but my others are pretty strong too. And I've written or am planning to write basically every character in the series (no Sasabe, no American team, no Ginka, and a few National teams are missing), so I've got some experience with characters.

I also feel I know my Bones characters extremely well. In particular, Hodgins and Zack. Especially Hodgins - I feel I can relate to him well. I also understand Angela... and Brennan and Booth... and Goodman... and Cam... and even Sully. Once I get hooked on a series, especially one with interesting characters, the characters come to life. They're real, they're tangible, and that's that. (Despite what my mother says. But she's never liked anything about me or what I want to do with my life, so I don't pay much attention to her.)

Oh! And last but not least, I've worked with quite a few OC authors over the past year and they seemed to have enjoyed and valued the advice I gave them. So if you've got a questionable OC (also known as a Sue), drop by. :)
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
My weaknesses. Well, I critique harshly. I'm kind of blunt, to tell the truth. My mother told me that whenever I critique somebody I should use the sandwich approach: offer two good things for every bad thing. That doesn't seem logical to me. The good things do not need fixing. So I point out what's wrong, and generally leave it at that, unless you've been trying something new and ask for my advice. Also, if it's Rikkai that you're looking for me to beta... see, the thing is, Rikkai is a team that has to want to be written. They have to come to you, not the other way around. They have to come and tell you that they want you to write them. You have to have a relationship. Do I sound creepy? It's true. I've found that it's true with most good Rikkaithors, and while I don't consider myself to the standard of many I do consider myself a decent Rikkaithor. What's true? Every person has their own version of Rikkai. Every character is just a little bit different. It's just the way it works. So unless there's major OOC on the Rikkai side, I'll tend to leave them alone, because I'm not sure how you write them.

Did that make any sense?

Oh, and sometimes I have time restraints (because my mom says I'm addicted to the computer. Pfffft.) so it does take me a bit longer to reply sometimes.
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I'm good with most things. I actually would have to say that I prefer serious pieces, and I'm not sure why. Serious pieces, and pieces with OCs that belong to newer authors. I'm in the process of writing an few OC stories, though whether or not they will ever be posted is something you'll have to wait and see. I enjoy reading others work, especially OCs, because for some reason I feel that I know quite a bit about how to make a good OC. (The characters I'm currently writing have been in development for the past year and a half, and the first chapters have been changed so many times I've lost count.) Also, if your story is medically based (any type of disease or mental illness), I've had a bit of experience dealing with these subjects both in writing and real life, so I'm fairly educated in that area, and am willing to help check your research. Anyway, preferences aside, I'll pretty much beta anything.

On another note, I generally only beta if you have a PC. I don't want to discriminate against those who have a Mac, but my preferred way to edit is using track changes in Microsoft Word. However, I may make exceptions to this rule, so just ask. ;)
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I'm pretty good with all stories. If you're writing SanaYuki I might get a bit defensive with my pairing (Uke Pair FOREVAH!), but I'll still beta it. After all, I've taken the shippers oath, so unless you write a story bashing me, my pairing, or something I feel extremely strongly about in a cruel and unusual manner I'll read it and I'll check it.
