Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Hello. I’m volunteering to be a beta, because I’m sick of seeing stories not reach their potential ... plus, I like to procrastinate when it comes to writing my own fictions. XD
Besides those two main reasons, the other reason I'm doing this is because it always bothers me when I run across a fanfic that has a wonderful ‘idea’ behind it, but the story is lacking in content and/or spelling accuracy.
I have been writing for a long time, so I am experienced. I'm also friendly when offering advice. Some works I have co-written or beta-ed (or both) for are:

My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I love giving constrictive criticism, especially on the matter of fluency.
I also like helping new authors in the matter of adding description to their stories, be it the mentality of the character or the setting.
I enjoy helping people brainstorm if they reach a roadblock in their story or need help increasing the depth of the story line.
Last, but not least, I also help in de-sueing a Mary-Sue. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I will admit that I have occasionally missed small spelling errors here and there, but that is a rarity. So, if you think you are a better grammar whore than me, I recommend someone else. XD
Also, I am lacking on time, especially during the school year, so it may take two to three days to get a long chapter back since I have such a busy schedule. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Preferred? I don’t have any true favorites. If the base of the story line is well thought out and coherent, I’ll try and help. Also, I don’t mind slash, and hardcore scenes do not ‘gross me out’. Furthermore, I don't mind slight AU's or crossovers. I am very opened minded and support new ideas. In fact, I love praising people that can think up new ideas for their genre.
Plus, this isn’t important, but I love gore and fighting scenes. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Transformer category: I do not fancy transformers turned human or human TF's (humans turned into transformer doesn't bother me). I also will not proofread Sam/Bee fics; no offense, but I’ve never been able to think of those two as anything more than friends. I have never watched Beastwars, so don’t ask.
Invader Zim category: if you make Dib too ‘gay’ in Zim/Dib slash, I will not accept, but I don't mind the pairing as long as you keep them somewhat in character.
Other sections: No complaints as of yet.
Finally, I do not mind Original Characters (as I've already mentioned), but I will not read a story that focuses completely on just the OC. |
