Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I am 20 years old, and I am extremely fond of both reading and writing, activities that I have been pursuing since I was 6. I love languages, and I speak both Norwegian and English fluently. My writing skills in both languages have been said to be quite good. I have done some beta-reading before, and it has worked out very well, I think. Most importantly, I am very concerned with grammar and spelling, as well as vocabulary, all tools that come in handy when proof-reading a story. When I do beta-reading, I don't change your story, though I may come with helpful suggestions along the way; I, mainly, make sure the language is correct and if it is very unvaried, I may suggest ways to spice it up a little. If you like, I will also give my comments on your story before you post it, but only if you wish me to. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
As mentioned, I am very good with grammar, spelling, punctuation - all the techincal stuff. I am also very supportive, and I will never dismiss a story as "bad" or anything of the like. I also read and write a great deal myself (also, as mentioned), which gives me a pretty good knowledge of the English language, as well as Norwegian, if anyone is looking for a Norwegian beta-reader. I am also very committed to the things I set out to do. |

Sometimes I may find myself swamped with other things to do, so it could, from time to time, take me a little extra time to proof-read the story, but I do try my best. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I suppose I prefer Harry Potter fanfiction, because that is the genre I have the most extensive knowledge of, but I wouldn't be unwilling to accept other fanfiction stories as well. Basically, just ask me, and if it turns out that I don't know anything about the basis for the story you're writing, I may suggest you choose another beta-reader. Stories from books or tv-series are your best bet with me. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
No manga or comic-book stuff. I have absolutely no knowledge of that. And, if it is Harry Potter, I'd prefer not to beta slash-stories. |
