Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Please PM/email me if you're interested in asking for my help, let me know if you have certain times you need chapters to be beta'd by, and a full, detailed description of the plot. When we get something sorted I'd like an in-depth description of any OC characters (preferrably with some sort of profiles) and if story you're writing is still in progress.
I'm very flexible, so feel free to talk to me, even if what you want me to read doesn't quite fit my specifications; I'm quite happy to read something I normally wouldn't.
When you send me a chapter, I'll give you a general overview of what I thought, and then give you a list of specific parts I've noticed mistakes in or I feel could be improved. Of course you are under no obligation to take my advice. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm very good with grammar, spelling, characterization and sentence structure, as well as descriptive points and certain small parts of the story which can be carried through the story as a significant piece. I try to make sure the story fits well enough with the canon. I'm good at the flow of words and ideas too, and try to make sure the story reads smoothly. I try to be completely honest with my opinions on the story and characters, and point out ways to improve any mistakes or inaccuracies. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I'm too great at the actual layout of paragraphs, as when writing I often over-paragraph or under-paragraph. I often don't keep completely up-to-date with my fandoms, and if the fandom is a book I can be prone to forgetting a few parts of it. If I get anything wrong, please correct me straight away. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I'll read almost any type of story anyone throws at me. Pretty much any genre is fine for me, and I'm happy to take on parodies and alternate universes. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I'm not a big fan of things that go strongly against canon (unless it's parody or AU), and I will not take on porn without plot stories. Generally I don't particularly like OCs much, especially if they are the centre of the story, but I'm willing to work with them if they're well thought out.
In the Transformers fandom, I really don't like the whole robot-sex-scene thing. But if it's only a small part of your story, I won't say no. |
