Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
As a beta reader I will be on the lookout for spelling errors and will offer up suggestions on how to improve either writing style or story content. I would expect anyone who wants me as a beta to be able to tolerate constructive criticism and also be able to stick to their guns and not blindly agree with every story suggestion I have. Your work, your call. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Details! Details! If I'm doing a historical piece I will spend hours researching that particular period to make my work believable. Historical inaccuracy is a pet peeve of mine. I also like to plan out my plots in detail though writing about how the characters get from point A to point B can be tricky sometimes as my attention span is limited but my ideas are not. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I am human so I will make mistakes. Commas and their proper placing have always been a problem for me so I apologize in advance. Beginnings/introductions do not always come as easily to me as writing the middle, end, and epilogues. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I'm an avid fan of Star Wars, Phantom of the Opera, and Forever Knight so you can expect me to know what I'm doing with those genres. I also prefer stories that have conflict in them. I don't take kindly to Mary Sues. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Don't ask me to beta humor stories. While I like to add humor to the story as comic relief I prefer to keep the tone serious. |
