Beta Description
Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I'm blunt, I'm not mean, but I won't mince words. I encourage asking questions, the more the better, and the more you talk about a story/plot line etc. the more I think you'll see what needs to be fleshed out or trimmed back, and I will talk as much as you need me to. I also can turn into a bit of a teacher, I have a small list of writer's tricks I've picked up over the years and if I know one I think fits your situation I will share it. I will also ask questions of you, such as, "do you know someone who would say this?" in regards to dialogue, and other areas, so be prepared to think.

I will answer any question you ask, you just may not like the answer. :)

I'm also a rather deep thinker, if your story is meant to just be a light, surface tale, tell me, it will matter greatly in how I make my suggestions.
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I've got a knack for catching misspelled, and wrong words -like you typed 'knew' when you meant 'new'. If you're looking to just catch mistakes in the technical side, I will beta stories I am unfamiliar with.

Metaphors and dialogue are two of my best areas. I'm good at picking up conversational nuances even with characters I'm unfamiliar with. If the speaker's personality is showing through it won't matter if I 'know' them or not because I can hear them.

With characters I do know, I will be able to tell you if you sound too out of character to be plausible.

Since I write surreal, and heavily symbolic metaphors I can recognize in another person's work when and where they go too far, or not far enough.
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I can get too detail oriented, but since I'm not dealing with my own work the better question is "what are you looking for that I can't give?" Which is something you, the writer, would have to answer.
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I admit, I'd be more enthusiastic about stories I have an interest in, but as long as you're trying then you're exactly what I prefer.

I have a passing familiarity with a lot more than what I've checked off, I picked only those categories I know roughly inside and out, so if you do not see your subject listed please feel free to ask me about it.
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I will not touch anything of the Bratz, Puffy Ami Yumi (did I spell that right?), anything of the newer Adultswim, live action Disney T.V. shows, essentially anything where it's more than obvious the original screenwriters left their brains at home. I also politely refuse to read anything remotely related to Twilight.
