Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I have a very critical eye. I pick up small details fairly easily and am extremely good with specific grammar rules. If ever in doubt, I would always check to see if my comments were correct or helpful. Depending on how a story's grammar is, I might focus more or less on style. However, my top priorities are always grammar and spelling, and then style afterward.
Also, I think I would be very helpful with making a Harry Potter fic as canon as possible... see my "Preferred" section. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I guess I'm best at spelling. I would always try and do my best if ever I were in doubt of a grammar rule, and I'm very good with following up with research whenever I'm unsure.
I always notice word repetition (ha - I've just said "best" twice in that paragraph up there) and I am pretty proficient at coming up with nice synonyms for boring words. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I'm not sure I would be great at helping out with the flow of a story. My stories are never as elegant as I want them to be, so I don't think I'd be a large help to others in this field. I will try my best, though! :D |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
What is it asking here? What genre or which category? Well I'll answer both. I would prefer to beta Harry Potter stories as I am very familiar with Harry Potter canon. I would also do anime/manga stories, such as Naruto, Rurouni Kenshin, Fruits Basket, Yotsubato!, and maybe even Sailor Moon, as well as Avatar the Last Airbender fics. (What category is that under, anyway?) I'm sure there are other animes I'm forgetting about right now, so I'm pretty open to those.
I think I would like to work with one-shots the most. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I may edit this later. As I haven't ever beta'd anything before, I'm not quite sure. |
