Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I am an established fanwriter with numerous review heavy stories under my belt. I betaread with an emphasis on correcting spelling, removing or reworking awkward phrasing, fixing tenses, and keeping an eye out for continuity errors. So, pretty much what you're supposed to do as a betareader. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I am an excellent writer and a veteran betareader. I try to give valid, positive, story improvement based criticism at all times, avoiding negative criticism or outright censure. I can give constructive continuity and characterization advice from memory for the following series/games: Any Final Fantasy, Invader Zim, Trigun, Ranma 1/2, Rurouni Kenshin, Aliens Vs. Predator, Slayers, Teen Titans, Neil Gaiman's the Sandman, Hellblazer, and most of Jhonen Vasquez's work. Even if it is not a series with which I have personal experience, I can easily find the information to give a proper criticism... it will just take me longer. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I have a somewhat hectic schedule and may take a little bit of time in order to betaread particularly long (or extremely rough) chapters. I can do a rush job, but at the expense of quality. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Any of the series or games mentioned above. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I am not a big fan of the yaoi/yuri phenomenon and I find it difficult to give an unbiased criticism for them. Which is not to say that if it is extremely well written, I can't beta read it, just that it definately isn't my cup of tea. I am also not fond of script format writing. |
