Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader Nitpicker extraordinaire - that is, I can get down to the level of crossing i's and dotting t's, but I try to be kind also. Interested in history and etymology, particularly for The Scarlet Pimpernel. I prefer canon, but will take a deep breath and objectively review AU stories. My qualifications consists of an eclectic library of fiction and a degree in English literature, which had to be useful for something. | My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths English - grammar, spelling, dialogue. Eighteenth century history. A good knowledge of the stories and characters of Baroness Orczy's The Scarlet Pimpernel. | My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses As a writer, I have difficulty pacing plots, but I can recognise such a skill as a reader. As a beta reader, I am perhaps a little too pedantic, and will spot - and point out - a stray comma or apostrophe from a mile off. | Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others Canon - I am a purist at heart. | Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for Slash, unless there is an obvious subtext lurking in the original source. |
