Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Me;
I'm a long time writer who understands the importance of having someone else read over your stories. I handle most genres pretty well, but I favor humor above all else. I've been writing fanfiction for almost ten years under various pennames, and have learned how to spot most common mistakes. As a beta, I'll offer as many suggestions as I can for improvement while keeping with the original feel of the story. I’m an easy going person, who’s not gonna let personal biases get in the way of getting the job done.
You;
I consider myself a firm, but fair critic and will always strive to help you improve your stories. I'll point out mistakes and help you with parts of the story that feel weak, but I will not write your story for you, so I'm hoping for fanfic authors who are willing to take responsibility for their stories. As an author, I'll expect you to be able to make use of spell check, as well as having at least a basic understanding of paragraph and story structure. I will not beta any stories written in script style. The same holds true for stories with first person PoV that change the narrator every other paragraph. |

My strengths as a writer include character development, detailing, planning, and a firm grasp of character personalities. I'm a good speller as well, and my understanding of grammar is passable. Not stellar, but passable nonetheless... |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
My main weakness is that I tend to rush things a bit. While this is good for getting things back to you in time, I'm afraid that I can sometimes miss one or two things that should have been corrected. I also tend to be taken out of the story a bit when it comes to fighting scenes, which are difficult for me to follow. |

Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I will not read lemons or smut of an sort, given that I find it it distasteful for an author to rely on sex to sell their stories. I'm fine with most pairings, and won't have a problem reading most yaoi if the characterization is kept in check, having read a fic or two of that variety shoved my way by my yaoi-crazed friends. No UberOOC ukes or questionable content, though. That won't sit very well with me... |
