Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader I just graduated with my BA in English and am looking to get some practice at editing. If you're just looking for someone to correct your grammar, look elsewhere - I will analyze all parts of your writing, including characterization, structure, word usage, plot, etc. I will be constructive, but honest...if you're simply fishing for compliments, again, look elsewhere. Also, I will be critiquing you as a reader, not a writer. I sincerely believe that the rules of grammar can and should be broken when writing creatively. As such, I will be focusing more on the flaws in your writing that effect my experience as a reader, rather than telling you how I would have written it myself or how some dusty old grammar book says it should be written. | My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths My strengths are in keeping up the flow of the story - if you've written yourself into a corner or can't figure out what comes next, I'm your girl...I love thinking up plot twists or finding ways to make things sound more interesting. I'm also obsessed with characterization, and will help you build stronger characters. Also, beyond simple spelling in grammar, I tend to hone in on word choice, flow, and what "sounds right." If you're having trouble wording something, I'm all over it. | My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses Nitpicking. I can get caught up in details that some find frivolous. | Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others I always enjoy a good romance. :) | Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for No slash, please! Nothing against it, it's just not my thing. |
