Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Hi, everyone. I'll be perfectly honest, I have never beta-ed for anyone before (at least, online), but I'm truly, honestly feeling up to it and I want to try to be more involved with my fellow fanfiction writers. Please don't hesitate to send me stories to look over. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I have above-average comprehension of the English language, an eye for spelling errors as well as grammatical errors. I am also prepared to spot other things like redundency in sentences and offer alternatives. Basically, teacher-stuff. I have beta-read for others but never online; however, it has always been for friends and classmates on essays and exams so I'm pretty confident that I can handle fanfiction, too. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Like I said, I've never beta-read for fanfiction before, so I'm not really familiar with how these things really work. I am, however, willing to learn with someone who would be patient enough to teach me. Also, it may take a day or two for me to get back to you because I do have a social life on top of my workload, but otherwise I'm pretty much on the computer all of the time. Also, don't take it personally if you find me brutally frank or if I don't want to beta your story. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I don't mind yaoi or yuri stories. Alternate universe/alternate realities, I find, are always interesting to read. Controversy is merely a word for the unimaginative. Gore, incest, graphic violence/sex or almost anything else you can dish out, I can handle (and enjoy, haha). |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I'm not into MPreg (male pregnancy). That's about all I can really think of, off the top of my head. I will tell you if I do not want to beta a story because of content; just ask. |
