Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I am probably one of the cruelest beta-readers you will ever encounter, as I will correct EVERYTHING - spelling, grammar, punctuation, run-on sentences, etc. I will not, however, criticize any plot, unless it is completely incomprehensible. My goal is to help any author improve the structure of their story, fixing all the little typos and errors that slip by, so that the end result is a story that is fun and easy to read. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I have an excellent vocabulary, am a whiz at grammar and punctuation, and can offer suggestions for clarity and impact. I am extremely detail-oriented, and can spot plot and setting inconsistencies,as well as timleline variations. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I can be a little O/C (obsessive/compulsive)about things, so if you can't take the corrections, you probably should find someone else. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I prefer authors who actually complete their stories. And I love a good, long, in-depth, meaty 10+ chapter story of any kind - AU, cross-over, slash, whatever. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I would prefer not to beta extremely violent stories with lots of blood and gore, stories with excessive use of profanity, hard-core rape scenes, brutality, or violence to children. Also, cross-overs with cartoons or anime - I am not up to date with any of this stuff (unless its Sponge Bob) and so I would be quite out of my element. |
