Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Respect is definitely the key with me. I really won't bite, or tell you how to write your story. I will fully respect you as a writer and a person, because I think beta-readers are just gentle helpers, really, not tear-it-shreds critics. Still, as a beta-reader, I look at the substance of a story more than the sentence structure/ grammatics stuff, though I naturally see those little mistakes, too. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Out of the box thinking is my greatest area of writing. I'm very good at coming up with ideas, if you were absolutely stuck and needed some help brainstorming (but I would NEVER try and force my opinions on you). I love plot twists. I've been told I'm good at action scenes and punctuation and grammar. I'm actually pretty picky about homophones (your-you're, write-right, ect.), just to warn you.
...Let's see...
...I constantly look at character development and consistency to make sure everything aligns. I think for hours how to make characters' reactions to situations as realistic as possible.
If you're looking at me to beta-read, you've probably read at least one of my stories, and you know what you like and don't like about my style.... |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Romance. I can't offer any advice how to do romances well. I'm not very good at persuasive essays, either, but I don't think anyone will be writing one of those on this site... haha. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I don't really mind. I love Chris, but I do have a wide range of other characters and fandoms that I'd be comfortable beta-reading. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
...Romances. A dash of love interest is perfectly fine, but I just don't care for it to be a story's entire plot. |
