Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader I enjoy helping people with their stories because I know as a writer how invaluable honest feedback is. I'm not too nit picky with grammar (i.e. I think commas are supposed to be used creatively and fragments can be good if they're used for emphasis) but if you think "its" is the same thing as "it's", I'll point it out. I will probably end up inserting comments next to sentences about what I think you should do to make it better (unless it's a simple grammar thing). It's easiest for me to beta with email and I can normally finish beta-ing within a few days (depending on the length of the fic). If I cannot help you, I'll let you know as soon as I can. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths I feel I have a strong grasp of characterizations and I'm always open to new interpretations. However, if you have a character do something I feel canon would not accept, I'll tell you. I also think I'm good with making the structure of a fic work. But basically, I think I give a straight forward opinion about what could make the writing better. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses As I said, I'm not a grammar-nazi. Also... I'm not a poet. I don't particularly care for poetry (except for a select few poets who have captured my heart) and I will be an awful judge of any poetry I come across (not to mention very mean about it). |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others I do prefer slash fiction (and definitely smutty slash fiction) but I will read any fandom if you are in need of help. If you are looking for characterization feedback and I haven't heard of the fandom, I'll definitely research it and watch a few episodes to help you. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for I would rather not beta any original poetry. I would also prefer to steer clear of any character death or rape fics. They tend to be written horribly and I don't want to read about my favorite character dying without the proper use of commas. |
