Although I enjoy editing and helping people to improve their writing, I can't guarantee that I'll say yes at any given time. But it's worth a shot, if you think that we'd be a good match. I like to establish a rapport with the people I beta for, and go from there, but here's the rundown of what I do: I'll discuss your story with you, help you with ideas if you're stuck, and look over your story for anything that might need attention.

+ My English is excellent, so I'm good at spotting mistakes, though I expect that the person I'm beta-reading for will have checked his or her story before sending it to me. I'll tell you what you're doing wrong so that you can fix it yourself and learn from it.
+ Characterization is a strong point of mine.

Overall, I'm pretty much willing to help you with anything. I'm not perfect, of course, but I like to think that I'm good at what I do (and so do the people for whom I've beta-read, for that matter).

+ I'll admit, plot has never been one of my strengths.
+ If you're looking for a Stephen King-worthy editor and want to tighten up your story with a lot of cutting, then I'm not the beta for you.
+ I may not always point out everything that feels a little off to me, probably because I'm not sure how to say it or offer suggestion to improve it.

I like serious fics that don't cross into melodramatic territory. I like humor. I like plenty of things in between. I'm not picky.

Slash is fine with me. What's not fine is incest. I refuse to touch fics like those.

OCs are okay, but if there are too many of them, I'm out.

I'm also not big on romance. If it's good, I'll do it, but really, I'm not particularly interested to begin with, and if I'm interested in your story then I'll do a better job of editing it.
