Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader I do a lot of my own writing, so I know well the standards expected of a beta reader. I beta for the site 'Perfect Imagination', which you have to take an aptitude test to qualify for, so I know I am of a good standard. If I have a lot of stories to beta coming in all at once, I will beta them in the order I recieved them; so if you want to get the most out of your beta you should be prompt and send storie & chapters etc when you say you will. That will make me more willing to return the favour and get back to you quickly! Also, when constructive criticism is given, it should be taken on board, and not considered as a flaming- we beta-readers are here to help! | My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths Spelling & grammatical errors are easy to correct. Characterisation is very important and something I make sure I look out for! | My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses I can help with general plot ideas but really if you are ready to have your work beta read, you must be fairly certain in what's happened and where you're going with the story, otherwise it's hard to help you perfect it. | Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others Stories I am happy to beta for include: Doctor Who, Torchwood, Harry Potter; as I have written fan fictions of these myself. | Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for If there are other stories you would like me to beta aside from those I indicated in 'preferred', do let me know and I'll tell you if I am willing, or will recommend another beta-reader. It's generally best not to beta stories based around things you don't know so well. |
