Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I don't read much fanfiction anymore, but if one strikes my eye or if I get bored, I'll read it. I dislike typos and bad grammar, but I won't be nitpicky about it. It happens. I look for original ideas, characters, and intriguing plotlines, but my favorite stories are pretty light-hearted. Writing should be fun and that's the kind of stuff I read.
If you want me to read your story, here are my requirements:
~Formatting is extremely important. Don't overuse bold, italic, or underlining. Separate blocks of text with a line of spacing. (look at my profile or any of my stories as an example)
~Don't flip out if you don't get a response from me right away. We all have lives, you see (or I should hope).
~Please, please, please, PLEASE edit your stories and fix spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Perfection is not a requirement but at least make an effort ^_^
~Don't take criticism as an insult. As a beta reader I am trying to help you and not hurt your feelings.

My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Character analysis is probably my greatest strength as a writer. I am willing to read anything with original characters in my fandoms and help shape them to be realistic and not Mary Sue-ish. |

I tend to skip lines a lot and miss key points in a paragraph, so I have to reread parts over and over again. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I prefer humor over all, but I also enjoy crack!fiction (which may or may not be humor) and fluff. Slash is OK every once in a while, but preferably if it was crack!fluff.
Original characters are fun unless they're Mary Sues. But I can help fix that.
Of fandoms, I read Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, Super Smash Bros. and Teen Titans the most, but I do read some Pokemon (either the original with 151 or Diamond and Pearl). And whatever strikes my eye. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
If I'm not familiar with a fandom, I have zero interest in reading a story within that fandom, even when it's a crossover with something I'm familiar with. Sorry. That's the way I roll.
I'm also not that into sci-fi or spiritual stuff, and I really dislike poetry. Too many horrible years of English class can do that to a person. |
