Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
As a betareader, I want to improve the conventions and sentence structure of your work without making unnecessary amends to your story content or your personal style. If you don't have confidence posting your work because you have poor spelling and/or grammar, then I think I could help with that. Although I'm not very proficient with plot formation, I still think I could also work with your story if you think the plot comes into play too soon or too late. I can only work in my preferred categories when it comes to characters.
Also, the majority of my works are AU (Alternate Universe), so if you have an AU story and other betareaders prefer not to read them, then I'd like to do my best to assist you.
All in all, I'm not perfect and sometimes I only catch the simplest mistakes. But if you let me betaread your story, it would help me as well as you. I prefer not to make dramatic changes because the story is yours, and to change anything without a good reason would just ruin your story. I think as long as I can help make your story easier for other people to read and enjoy, then that's all you need, and the rest you can fix yourself in order to become a better writer. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My strengths include spelling, grammar, sentence structure, capitalization, puncuation, and other basic conventions of writing that you probably learn about in English class. I have a fairly developed vocabulary and other word choice factors that could help.
But more importantly, a strength of mine is patience. If you let me betaread your story, I will take careful time to read through it and do my best to tell you what you did wrong (or right). I would respect you and your story the way I would want to be respected. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Sometimes I get carried away with reading the story and miss a few typos and stuff (depending on how good the story is). I also might not get around to it because I have my writing to worry about, as well as school. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I really enjoy humor stories, as well as romance. AU is, of course, accepted. Honestly though I'm pretty well-rounded. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Not a big fan of OCs or really canon pairings. I don't like reading stories that are really long or really short. |
