Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I've written 46 stories for Angel, The Bill, Bones, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Grey's Anatomy, House, Hustle, Lost, Pirates of the Carribean, Scrubs and Torchwood, but many of them were written a long time ago, and they aren't really up to my current standard.
I'd be happiest beta-ing the bill fics to be honest, because its the show I've written most for, and so I feel as if I know it best.
One thing though. I don't do OOC fics- ie involving 'Stuart the wife beater.' and chances are, I will be a lot more critical of your writing style than most, rather than pointing out typos etc, but then what are spell checkers for?

My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm honest when it comes to out of character-ness. If I think you're chatacter is acting differently to how they would on the show, I'll tell you that.
I think it's always good to have a second pair of eyes reading something, to tell you if something doesn't read right.
My grammar is good, as is my punctuation, and I'm told I can phrase things well. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
My spelling leaves a lot to be desired, and I may come across as hypocritical at times, because a lot of my older stories contain a lot of plot elements that inow despise.
I find it hard to successfully write a strong beginning and conclusion to my fics, and if you need help in that respect, I'm probably not the person to come to. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
The Bill, mostly for reasons stated above. Within that... Sam/Phil was my first ship, but I like Sam/Stuart now and I'll happily go along with most others.
I would also feel confident within the relams of Torchwood as well, because I've watched it religiously from episode one.
Hurt/Comfort and Angst are mostly my thing, but I don't mind a lot of other genres, as long as it is true to the characters.
I like shippy fics, but I also quite like ones with a real story, which happen to have a couple in the background.

Oh and preferrably very little Smithy in the TB fics. I just don't like him, and I think my hatred would distract me from the story.
I don't dislike poetry, but I wouldn't recommend sending any to me. |
