Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I'll do my best to help you grow as a writer and to tell you what you've done right and also what you're doing wrong. I will always be honest with you about the quality of your story and the potential I think it has to get off the ground. I will also always respect, that, as the author you have the right to decide what direction your story goes in. I like to know who I'm betaing for, so if we work together I'd like to know who you as a person are so I can figure out the best way to help your story be better.
On your end of things, I'd expect you to do your best and to listen to what I have to say. Sound fair? |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Strengths: Description (places, people, things, etc), grammar and spelling (I'm something of a Nazi here. Please, try not to take it personally, I just have a hard time seeing poor spelling and grammar in stories because it's one of those things that help make your story better and easier to read.), finding plot holes and inconsistencies with cannon, discussing your story with you if you have writer's block or need help finding a new direction to take it in, keeping the characters in character, a strong knowledge of mythology (mostly Greek and Norse). |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I tend to get be something of a perfectionist, so if I get too annoying just whack me over the head, m'kay? |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I like adventure, AU, plausible romance, workable crossovers and fluff. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I'd rather not beta slash stories, nothing against it, I'd just rather not read them. Unless it's for Good Omens, then bring on the slash! I'd also prefer not to beta smut fics. I don't mind a bit of citrus so long as it's relevant to the plot, but otherwise... No. Just, no. Lastly, please, nothing that's going to be spewing angst everywhere just for the heck of it. |
