Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I am MacKenzie or Mac which ever you prefer. I live in the USA.
When I beta I need the file to be in MS Word format [.doc] (or Rich Text Format [.rtf]). I make my comments in a different color than what you type in. Usually red, since when I was in school, my English teachers used red ink pens to let us know what was wrong. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
When I beta, I tend to look for characterization and punctuation/typing mistakes. I think I have seen all of Buffy: The Vampire Slayer episodes and I think I have a pretty good handle on the main characters. I also think I have a pretty good handle on all of the main characters in all of the fandoms I had offered to beta for. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I haven't seen all of Angel, so I don't really know Gunn and Fred and some of the characters that came in after Season 1. I know Gunn was introduced in late Season 1 but that was just a couple of episodes.
Spelling is a weakness of mine, but I do have spell check and I am anneal about some of the most common misuse of words, such as now for know or to for too or two, etc....
As far as Bones, my major weakness would be any scientific stuff. You know, the lab scenes where they talk about the science of solving the crime. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel:
Buffy and Angel ending up with a happy romantic relationship.
Bones:
Bones/Booth (Unless Crossover with Buffy and Booth is somehow a human Angel and he ends up with Buffy.)
Pirates of the Carribean:

Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, Superman The Movie, Superman 2, Superman Returns:

(Supporting Chararcter ships -- I would like for Bella/Edward to be the main focus -- Carlie/Esme; Roselie/Emmett; Jasper/Alice; Jacob/Renesmee -- *AFTER* Renesmee's 18th birthday. Yes I know that Renesmee is supposed to *look* of age by her 7th birthday and also she is advanced in maturity and mentally, but I have a hard time with a minor with an older man -- romantically and I think that Edward and Bella would too. I can handle Jacob and Resemmee just dating and maybe kissing from her 16th birthday on but no sex until at least her 18 birthday.)

Clive Cussler Dirk Pitt Books (Dirk Sr./Lauren -- preferably, but if before the engagement/marriage, then I can handle with Dirk with someone else) Twins can be with anyone. There are a few Dirk Pitt books I haven't read yet though.
THe Young Riders:
Kid/Lou(ise)
Jimmy/with any female except Lou(ise) -- she belongs with Kid.
Emma/Sam as supporting cast. I like the stories to revolve around Kid/Lou or Jimmy/OC
Highlander The Serries and Movies:
Duncan/Tessa (when Tessa was alive) After Tessa's death, Duncan/any single female -- no slash!!
Forever Knight (I haven't seen Season 3 yet, so please no Season 3 spoilers):

Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Slash, Buffy or Angel romantically ending up with anyone other than each other. Giles romantically with Willow, Buffy or any of the "Children" as he would call them (he's their father figure -- it's too close to incest). Cordelia with Conner in a romantic way (yes I know this was cannon, but it's too close to incest for me. Incest is also not my cup of tea.) As far as The Young Riders go, the riders in a romantic relationship with Rachel and/or Emma, is too much like Brother/sister to me. In the end these two women were more like sisters to the riders than lovers.
If I have listed a preferred pairing for a particular show/movie, then it's not my cup of tea when those characters end up romantically with other characters. |
