Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I expect anybody who wants me to beta their work to at least have checked it for spelling, use of capitalisation, full stops etc.I'm British and so will automatically read the American spellings of certain words as 'wrong' but i can supply Americans with Britishisms and vice versa Doctor Who knowledge extends back only as far as 9 |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
characterisation: dialogue, inner thoughts etc
writing in different styles e.g historical (think Jane Austen) |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
description of places. i normally use settings recognised by the fandom i write for so i don't have to describe every room
my work tends to be character driven rather than plot driven which can lead to me going off on tangents in my own writing
my major weakness as a writer is having too many ideas to type up let alone publish, as a result i am rubbish at updating. |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
anything character and or relationship driven but i'm not saying no to 'villain/monster of the week' or more plot driven stories |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
fluffy nonsense, Mary Sues, OOC, insane crossovers (eg pride and prejudice/evil dead) and non/con...by which i mean i would beta an Ashes to Ashes fic in which Fenchurch East CID investigate a rape but i wouldn't beta one that revolved around Alex Shaz or any other main character being assaulted. |
