Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Hullo~
I haven't Beta-Read for that many people in my time, but I'd like to think I do a relatively good job when I do.
My literary training is that of a poets, but I feel more inclined to writing prose. The reason I mention poetry is because I believe in the basics of literary criticism, in which I would look at the Sense, Sound and Structure of your work in order to begin possibly correcting whatever it is you want to have corrected.
That is to say, that's what I'd do if you believe your work to be a literary piece of relatively high standards-- which, in case you haven't noticed, is my forte.
However, I also will do- which much delight, if I may add- casual writings that don't pay too much attention to the technicalities of your written piece but rather, give importance to the story and content.
All you have to do is specify just what about your work you want me to focus on when I Beta-read. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My forte is definitely handling the tone of the piece. I work very well with formal writing as well as- for lack of better terms- formally written casual prose.
By this, I mean that I can make your work look well written and still retain the casual to comedic mood of the piece.
I am also an automatic plot generator. If you've having problems with events in the story or just experiencing some holes in your plot, I would gladly lend a helping hand to help fix that.
It helps that I am a bit of a research geek. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Spelling. Keyboard typing is serious business, people.
I'm not serious. :' |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Fanfics which defy the social norm. By this, I mean that you openly write about something that may evoke a negative opinion from certain readers.
Boys Love and other forms of Homoeroticism are things I am very knowledgeable with. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
1.) Mary Sues. Yes, we all think everybody hates them but I do know of people who –chokes- LOVE Mary Sues.
2.) Self Inserts. I have suddenly become very much against any form of self insert whatsoever. Unless of course, no one knows it is you.
3.) Character relations. When I search the Beyblade section, I see nothing but “Tyson’s daughter…” Or “Kai’s long lost sister…” over and over again. YES, Tyson does have a daughter later on, but it isn’t YOU.
If these are present int the story, I will not bother.
Unless, of course, you want to change these aspects of your piece, and just need help doing it.
I might also decline your work based on your pairing. |
