Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I am very busy. Therefore, I will ignore your submission if you ignore my requests.
This means:
1. Do not submit things that are not "My Cup of Tea" if you have not talked to me first.
2. Present a reasonable effort in terms of plot, spelling, and general seriousness.
3. Keep submissions under 3000 words unless you have talked to me first.
4. Please review at least one of my chapters before expecting your story to be returned. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I am not about to brand OCs as Mary Sues simply because they are new. I absolutely love original characters. I am, however, a stickler for believability and unusual details. I can give you suggestions for promoting both. This approach also extends to dialogue. I am very picky about sentence structure and the words used in a story. Diction and connotation are not the only elements of proper word usage, but even those are far too frequently overlooked. I am comfortable using both British and American spelling. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
It may take a while for me to get back to you. Keep reminding me. I have to respond to things immediately or else I get caught up with work, research, and school. I can be blunt and impatient if you haven't put any real effort into making your tale believable. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I prefer original, believable characters, and the DĂșnedain have a special place in my heart. Because of my schedule, you will have the best luck getting me to read stories under 2000 words. Or, you could try mailing me one chapter at a time. That would help too. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Tenth walkers, parodies, girl falls into Middle Earth, poetry, LegolasOC, main character slash pairings. |
