Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
My name is Alta, and I like reading, editing, and commenting other people's stories aside from writing them. You can say I have experiences. I edit all my classmates' English writing projects ^^ I usually prioritize grammar and spelling. When those two are correct already, I begin checking the plot, characters, OOC-ness, etc. I accept all kinds of fandoms, but please check my account whether I know the fandom or not. If I do not, please send the general outline of the fandom or a link that can lead me to more knowledge about it, so that I can comprehend what you are writing about. Unintentional bad grammar and spelling is okay, but no chat-speak, please! And also no script-like stories! I am the type of beta that you can question and criticize instead of simply submit-I-check-you-get-it-back type, so feel free to also point out my mistakes! ^^ |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My best strength is grammar and descriptions. I like to play with words, and put feelings into them. I can help you with phrases and doubtful grammar. I am also an author, so I can comment on plot and characters and help with writer's blocks (God knows I have experienced a lot of 'em). I also have an absurdly active imagination (yes, and I don't know whether I am proud or disturbed by that), therefore I might give a hand when you are running out of ideas. |

I enjoy jokes, but I'm simply not a joker. I guess I'll be a bad beta for humour/parody stories (T.T). |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I prefer dark, angsty stories, or the hurt/comfort type. I like romance too, but only those with good and strong plot supporting it. I prefer stories with conflicts, be it physical or internal. I like stories that have meaning behind them, although this is not always necessary. I also enjoy fantasy stories. The length of stories never bothers me; I like one-shots and chapters. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I prefer not to beta stories containing lemon or lime (although I don't mind coarse language and violence). I also don't really like yaoi, yuri, and slash (exceptions for some in my account profile). |
