Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Hi, I'm Kate: I'm 20 and a college student studying to be a middle grade reading and english teacher. I'm an A student, and a perfectionist. I really love reading and writing, and I really want to share that love with others, hence my career decision. I ask that if you decide to use me as a beta reader, that you understand that I have an outside life, and be willing to make changes and work colaboratively so we can make your story the best it can be! I'm not afraid to admit I've made a mistake: I'm constantly learning! My friends would tell you that I'm a bit of a grammar nazi and also a walking Webster's: what can I say, I love the english language and it really kills me to see published pieces that have easily correctable flaws. So come on! Let's work together to make this story the best it can be, right? |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm in college studying to be an english teacher- as such, I like to think I have a pretty good grasp on the english language. I also have an extensive vocabulary, so don't be surprised if any works I beta have a few larger words in them... ;) |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I can sometimes be a bit *too* critical, however I'm trying to temper this. I admit, I'm a huge procrastinator, but I also work well with a deadline in mind. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I'm a sucker for romances, and enjoy anything that involves history, particularly any time before around 1920. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I'm not a huge fan of anime fics, please, and would like to avoid excessive slash or violent stories. |
