Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I am a qualified beta-reader with a lot of time on my hands and a good eye for critique. Dependable with good English skills, I garuntee to critique your story and return it to you as soon as possible. However, if you bombard me with stories, don't expect me to read and return in a matter of hours; I'm not a machine. Whatever you need help on, I'll be sure to do my best to meet your expectations. The program I use for writing and editing is Microsoft Word 2007, so if you just need a spellcheck or something similar, I'll be willing to do that for you as well. I'm an overall nice person with a sense of humor, and I garuntee to be understanding if you have a problem with my editing. Critique will not be harsh, but instead friendly. My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I know where commas, periods, question marks, and exclamation should be placed, as well as having an exceptional vocabulary and skill for wording things correctly. I am able to avoid awkwardly-written statements or questions and correct spelling errors and typos.I know how much editing is too much, yet I obtain the ability to critique harshly when needed. My descriptions are accurate and I know how to make words flow. I am reliable and a fast reader, so you can expect your stories returned at an acceptable rate. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Admittedly, my characterization is not always perfect, and I have been known to make typos. Creating an eye-catching summary is certainly not a strength of mine, and I haven't much of a creative eye when it comes to plots. I am willing and trying to improve in these areas, as well as my tendency to create fragments. On the same note, my laptop has been having trouble with viruses and speed lately, so if it suddenly crashes, do not expect your data to be backed up. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I'd rather you send me a parody, AU, humor, or something simple and drabble-like. A long chapter story would be fine as well, and romance is okay. I'm fine with yaoi and yuri, although canon pairings would be preferred, as far as romance goes. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
Try to avoid sending me deathfics, songfics, or lemon/lime. These are okay, but I'd strongly prefer not reading or critique-ing them. |
