Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
As a beta-reader, I'm very objective. You could give me any kind of story, and I'll fairly critique it for you. As for my style, I work with the elements of what makes up a story, starting with the basics, such as grammar and spelling. I move on to the characters, the setting and situation, and finally to the plot itself. If you choose me as your beta, you can expect a critique of the story as a whole, a few pieces of constructive criticism, and an overall rating of how you've done as a writer on the characters and such. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I excell in grammar, punctuation, and spelling. I understand setence structure but am open to writers' different styles. I can see both sides: the current situation, and the overall big picture. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
As a friend of mine once told me, I "comma rape" pieces of literature. I can get a little zealous sometimes. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I would, and most likely will, beta almost anything. I tend not to use prejudice on a type of story unless I'm reading it for my own entertainment. I like slash as well as het. I don't mind male pregnancy stories, though sometimes I do look at them and say "What the hell?" I'm fine with all violent situation and drama, be it rape, molestion, murder, torture, ect. The strange and unusual doesn't bother me at all, and certain types I tend to seek out. I don't care if a stories incest, and I don't judge stories that I've been pulled in to beta on. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I haven't really found much I can't stand. I've learned to separate what I enjoy from what other people might enjoy. Sometimes, however, I just can't stand bad fanfiction. |
