Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Um I think this is basically repeating everything I will mention in the rest of the fields, but I suppose I can do it again.
Before I start though I would like to ask that you not judge my beta skills on my fanfiction that is already posted on here. I don't particularly like any of those because I don't think that I wrote that well when I was younger. I have gotten a whole lot better so I'm sure I can beta for anyone. If you want to read some of my newer stuff just ask and I will send some to you, I promise. I'm also currently writing a story with a friend of mine that will be posted on fictionpress.net sometime soon.
I'm extremely good at grammar, spelling, and sentence structure (as in better ways to word things). If it's a fandom that I'm very familiar with then I can help you keep the people as in character as possible, unless you don't want it to be that way. I can also give you ideas to make your story better.
I get annoyed very easily if you don't have at least a basic understanding of grammar. I may be good at it, but if it's overflowing with mistakes then I can't read it.
Like I said, repeat of what I will be saying. I don't really know my beta-reading style. I just edit mistakes to the best of my ability and then give ideas on how to change something to let your readers understand it more as well as to make the entire sentence just sound nicer.
I also love to give you suggestions on different things to say then what every else does. You know, the common analogies that everyone knows, well I think it's kind of boring to read the same thing over and over again so I'll help you come up with something new.

Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I prefer to beta stories that you are going to finish and have a clear plot line. One-shots are fine, but I'd prefer to beta for a chapter fic with a plot line. Also; I can beta for romance, humor, hurt/comfort, au, and drama. I'd prefer if the fics I beta for are slash, but it's not required. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
No shoujo-ai, sorry I just can't read it. Angst is fine, but only if there's not way to much of it. If the story is overflowing with it then I tend to just say, 'Oh suck it up already.' and then give up on the fic. |
