Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I am a very wordy beta; I will comment all over your piece, telling you what I like and what I don't. Sometimes I am kind of peppy.
Anyway, as long as you know how to use capital letters and have a decent grasp of punctuation and grammar, I'm with you! |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I have excellent grammar and punctuation skills. In addition, I can usually tell if a character is OOC, even if it's for one sentence. I'm best with plots if they are somewhat likely to happen; I don't mind if it's the crackiest crack that ever cracked, as long as it has some kind of believable background. (Everybody's a muppet? Okay, that's fine! Just make it in character.) I'm pretty good at seeing overall themes and connecting weird little details to those themes. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Even though I can point out plot problems or characterization problems, I can't always think of the perfect way to fix them. I have a tendency to be a little pushy, but I promise I won't be mean or anything if you disagree with one of my suggestions. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
Character-driven stories, I think, are my strong suit, although I can certainly work with plot-driven or romance-driven stories as well. I'm more or less open for anything, save those specifics outlined below. Couples, should there be any, can be het, slash, or femslash; I'm best with canon couples and plausible non-canon couples. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
No PWPs, please! And I'd prefer not to deal with the squickier stuff; my idea of squick is pretty standard, so that should not be too much of a problem. |
