Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
New to beta-reading, but always looking to help someone better themselves and their writing. If you are going to ask for my help, be nice about it.
I will be honest if your story is bad. But I will try to be nice while doing so. I may not have a lot of time, what with work, writing, gaming and artistic pursuits, but if someone asks, I will make every effort to get back to them that day. Please, if you are going to ask, try and make the original, unbeta'd version as clean and error-free as you can. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Not sure about strengths yet, as the only stories I've read over are a friend's story a couple of years ago, her history essay, and her VCE essay on Hemmingway. But I'm here to help. I have a good grasp of spelling and a slightly weaker grasp of grammar, and I know the characters in my fandoms well enough to see blatant OOC-ness. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
May take a while to get back to you, I get distracted quite easily by shiny new (or not so new) video games, books and gadgets. I am completely new to beta-ing, so your story might not come back a shining pinnacle of perfection, okay? |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I would prefer to beta horror/suspense stories, insightful, introspective and well thought out stories, or ones from particular fandoms, otherwise I can't be sure of characterisation and plausibility. These are: DMC, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Naruto, Vampires, Kingdom Hearts, and various books, movies and other games. I'm fairly general, and always open for new ideas. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I don't really like explicit stories (sexual, not violence), or over-the-top, mushy romance. But I will read nearly everything else. As long as you make some attempt at characterisation and spelling/grammar, I will read it. |
