Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Hello! I have been writing and reading fanfiction for about 9 years now (whew!), mostly teen shows. I read Life with Derek and some Veronica Mars and Buffy. In the past I've written for Dawson's Creek, and read that and My So-Called Life. Anything along these lines is something I'm interested in. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm VERY focused on spelling, grammar, and format (e.g, fleshing out dialogue outside of a script format, breaking up paragraphs clearly). At the same time, I will definitely help you keep OOC-ness in check while still remembering that this IS fanfiction, and most stuff is a little OOC. I'm not all negative though - I will compliment all the good points, but you have to be responsive to constructive criticism. |

I am not always up to date on new stories, so I can't tell you if what you're trying has been done before. And I can't promise perfection. I'm really more of a tweaker; the main plot is your issue, but I'm always willing to brainstorm. |

I love Life with Derek, Dawson's Creek, and Veronica Mars. Anything else along those lines you can definitely run by me. Original or not (I know it's hard these days!), I really want to see a plot. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I really don't care for non-canon characters in main roles. I know, we ALL have a crush on Michael Seater, but please don't Mary-Sue yourself into the fanfiction - at least not the one you want me to read. And PLEASE PLEASE don't send me anything where rape/abuse is used as ONLY a gateway and not actually dealt with in the story. If you have yet to learn that no one finds out they're pregnant within a week, I am not your beta-reader. |
