Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I love to write and read. So basically helping anyone out by being their beta is kind of a treat for me, as well as helpful for them. I always make an effort to make sure any comment that I make on a story doesn't just point out a flaw, but instead is constructive. However, I tend to be straight forward. If there's a giant plot hole or something that I think is really out of place I'll tell an author that straight out. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm a pretty fast reader, so I'll be able to get everything read, checked and sent back to the author quickly.
I act, so if there's ever a question on how to annotate an accent I should be able to help out with that pretty easily.
I take Spanish, and my brother takes Japanese, so if a phrase is not translated properly over an online source in those languages it can be checked too. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I'm busy just like most people in the world. So there are times that it may take me longer to finish reading over a chapter.
I'm not perfect, so I may miss things. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I prefer any kind of story that has a developed thought behind it, although that's a bit hypocritical of me since I haven't always thought all of my stories through. In general though I like to read almost anything on topics that I have heard of. I doubt I'd be a very helpful beta if I was asked to read a story about some book I've never even read. If I can, I will go out and research a topic if I need to help someone with a story though. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I personally am not a fan of pieces written completely in instant messaging lingo, I just can't really engage in the story. The only other things I don't like to read are rape scenes, however I will if it is well integrated into and/or necessary to the story. |
