Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
As a beta-reader I would try my best to make each story I beta be both presentable and clear. I enjoy reading, so I would never turn down a decent applicant who needs help with their story. I expect for the writers that 'wish to acquire my services' be well read, and able to use grammar and punctuation. A beta shouldn't be expected to write the story for them after all... |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm best at creative and stylistic dialogue, light and understandable description and constructing massive and complicated storylines. I'm also a grammar-freak, so I'm always on the look out for slight errors. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Lengthly and pretentious descriptive scenes. |
Preferred: types of entries I prefer over others
I'd rather beta action, adventure, humour, drama (as long as it isn't too angsty) or romance. I'm fine with most genres in Fanfiction. I like to read and write stories that don't have too much focus with its genre, so there is variety in the scenes. |
Would Rather Not: types of entries I do not want to beta for
I would rather not betaread Yaoi/slash/whatever that is in the M rating. No problems with it, I just don't need to read the gritty details. However if the story is tasteful, and not the ravings of yaoi fangirls, then I wouldn't mind.
I do not condone the weird rape-fetish that has spread through fanfiction, and would never beta it.
I would also never betaread highschool fics, as I think they're pointless. If you want a highschool thing, then make an original story rather than converting ninjas or demons into students. |
