One of Anne's letters to Gilbert went astray and fell into my hands. I sent it on to Gilbert, of course, but I couldn't resist peeking in and sharing it with all of you...UPDATED with the answering letter from Gilbert.

Gilbert Blythe has returned to Avonlea school and meets the sweetest girl he's ever met. Because of his father's instruction to treat ladies with respect, he resists the temptation to call her "Carrots". A beautiful friendship bloomed because of it.
