Dawn Edwards is mentioned only briefly in the novel, "The Dead Zone" by Stephen King. This is a fiction on if she would have come up more in the novel, and if her and John became lovers. (I did use dialogue from both the novel written by Stephen King, and the script for the 1983 film. This idea, however, was entirely my own.)
