Ayla, Jondalar, Jonayla and their friends continue to travel and spread Ayla's message of peace and prosperity to the peoples of the ancient world.

Book II continues the fictional story of Ayla, and the people she has helped over the years. Ayla is now "Zelandoni Regal", the spiritual leader of all of the Zelandonii. With her skilled Acolyte daughter Jonayla, Ayla and Jondalar continue to spread her proclamation of peace, cooperation and trade throughout the ancient world. Ayla is firmly settled in the Ninth Cave and continues to amaze the people she comes in contact with. It climaxes when she is confronted by the leaders and accused of not having told them everything about her past.
